Test automation projects executed on top of a solid test automation framework provide the best return on investment. Frameworks help in improving the scalability and reliability of test automation assets.
Qualitree has invested enormous amount on R&D in this area and has developed some of the best approaches to building a scalable and reliable test automation assets. Ample amount of our team’s effort has gone into building test automation frameworks that is flexible and yield the best value to customers.
Generally, our projects involve creating test assets based on Hybrid Framework which includes Functional Decomposition and Data Driven approach. This approach can also be customized to suit specific project needs.
Using Functional Decomposition method, the application functionality will be divided into fundamental tasks like
- Navigation (Reusable Actions),
- Business Process (Reusable Actions),
- Subroutines (.vbs file) and
- Utilities (.vbs file)
These functional components can be reused to build several test scenarios which are called as “Main Scripts”.
The test data is maintained in an excel sheet which is used to data drive the test.
Any changes to the data require a change in the excel sheet only and any change in the application (UI or functional) require modifications in the corresponding Reusable Actions/Subroutines.

In this scenario a main script will be created for each and every page which verifies all
other links in that page. The test data for each main script will be created as an external worksheet with all the link names and corresponding expected data.
Test results will be created as an external worksheet for every main script. Test result looks similar to input data table with an additional column called “Status” which indicates “Pass/Fail” for every link in that page.
Note: Naming convention and coding will be standardized in lines with the industry best practices.
Automating the testing of document links offers the following advantages:
- Comprehensive testing
- Avoidance of testing errors due to the stereotypical nature of testing links
- Documents can be tested overnight while the results are available the next day for meaningful actions to be taken by the technical writers / documentation specialists
- Easy maintenance of the test automation setup with just modifications to the test data worksheet
Security testing is a broad effort that requires a domain of expertise beyond traditional software testing. In particular, application software security testing is very different from software functionality testing. Security issues are among the highest concerns to many organizations.
Security testing done properly goes deeper than simple black-box probing on the presentation layer (the sort performed by so-called application security tools)-even beyond the functional testing of security
apparatuses. Testers must use a risk-based approach, grounded in both the system’s architectural reality and the attacker’s mindset, to adequately gauge software security. By identifying risks in the system and creating tests driven by those risks, a software security tester can properly focus on those areas of code in which an attack will succeed. This approach provides a higher level of software security assurance than possible with classical black-box testing.

Do you develop application/product documentation (or any other documentation) in PDF or HTML format that run into several hundred pages?
If your answer is a ‘YES’ - We can help you test the document before it is distributed to the users.
Our solution is very unique and addresses some of the most important quality aspects of your PDF/HTML document. The various verification points to carry out a complete documentation testing are as follows:
Bookmarks: The objective is to test that each topic within the bookmark leads to the corresponding page within the document.
Table of content (TOC) and Internal Links: The objective is to test that clicking each link leads to the respective page with the content heading.
External Links: The objective is to verify that clicking on each external link within the document opens the right window or URL referred in the link.
Note: No Test Automation tool provides native support for PDF document format due to which it is not able to recognize the objects within the document uniquely.
Our solution involves using Acrobat Application Programming Interface (APIs) to verify the TOC, Bookmarks and internal links. The advantages using this approach include:
Stability: Increased stability of test automation scripts since the API offers an established means of communicating with Acrobat Reader
Data Sheet Preparation: A separate script uses APIs to retrieve the data content at run time, hence very minimal data preparation effort is required.
Efficiency: Reduced PC resource consumption and hence the ability to scale up vertically on a single computer.
Performance: Minimal execution time and effort.
Many a times, the most important/crucial decision in a test automation project is the selection of the test automation tool. Our expert panel can analyze various project parameters and business requirements and help you select the best tool for your test automation project.
Our team has experience/expertise in automating a range of application categories including ERP applications, business intelligence tools, UI intensive applications, connectors/adaptors, web applications, two-tier applications… Each of these categories requires a specific approach to automation and our team can help identify the right automation approach for your testing project.
